Inspections

SGS INTRON Certificatie carries out inspections in the following areas:

  • Processes

Processes that are related in any way to construction or environmental engineering are often implemented subject to a certificate, either as an obligation or voluntarily. SGS INTRON Certificatie carries out inspections on site to determine whether the management of those processes meets the applicable guidelines. Examples of such processes include asbestos removal and soil remediation, carrying out soil surveys or taking selective soil samples, as well as laying liquid-proof facilities.
  • Applications

This work involves assessing the direct implementation processes and applications, including applying sealing layers and joint filling material for the purpose of liquid-proof facilities and constructions (e.g. cellars and floors), or applying roof covering and insulation materials or cladding units to or on buildings. The application of mortar in the context of concrete repair is also assessed by SGS INTRON Certificatie.
  • Products

Many products are placed on the market with some form of product certification. In order to optimise the effectiveness of production control supervision, inspections (verifications) are carried out at the production location. If necessary, samples of the produced materials are taken. Examples of products subject to verification include granulates, asphalt, immobilisation products and roof coverings and insulation materials. Finally, inspections are carried out on various systems and various construction materials in the context of insured product guarantee.
  • Infrastructure

As regards infrastructure, inspections focus, for instance, on road construction, e.g. road markings and signalling.
  • Building work

Examples of inspections that SGS INTRON Certificatie carries out on building work include those on pile and other foundations and inspections in the context of structural concrete repair. In addition, inspections are carried out during various phases of the building process in the context of risk-related supervision. Very specific inspections include those on sports facilities and pressure equipment. The former in the context of the assessment of substructure constructions and the sport-related characteristics for the purpose of issuing a certificate of approval (recognised by the Dutch Olympic Committee and the Dutch Sports Federation – NOC/NSF), and the latter in the context of European safety regulations for pressure equipment (PED).
